“The government has declared 2066 B.S as 'Construction Year'. And, remarkably, the sales volume of construction equipment in the country as a whole is also witnessing upward spiral,” says Akash Golchha, president, Construction Solutions Pvt Ltd, the authorized dealer of Korea-based Hyundai brand of construction equipments for Nepal. “After acquiring the dealership of Hyundai a year back, we have sold 150 units of construction equipment of the brand like Hydraulic Crawler Excavator, Wheel Loaders, Mini Excavators, Skid Steer Loaders and Forklift Trucks,” elatedly relates Golchcha. Of out of the 150 equipment, some 125 are being leveraged for development works across the country, according to him. The prices of the Hyundai products range from US $ 66 thousand to US $ 135 thousand. “Every product promises warranty from 1500 hours to one year. And we are planning to augment the duration of the warranty period,” informs Golchcha. The Hyundai equipments manufactured in Korea are said to cheaper than other similar equipment manufactured in Japan and Thailand by Rs 5 to 7 lakh. Construction Solutions has set a target to double its sales volume this year. The company, as claimed by Golchcha, occupies 30 to 35 percent chunk of the total market share of the Nepali construction equipment sector. Construction Solutions, which has its main office at Thapathali, Kathmandu, boasts of its dealer network and service centers in various parts of the country like Birtamod, Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Biratnagar and other locations. Currently, construction equipment manufactured by multinational companies based in countries like Japan, Thailand and Korea are being used in various construction works. According to Narayan B. Khadga, sales manager, Construction Solutions, the import of construction equipment is also augmenting in line with the increment in construction works across the country.
